Psychotherapy

Halton is one of the two training centres in the Mersey deanery that offers psychotherapy training at a dedicated psychotherapy unit. The psychotherapy service is led by Dr Sheena Pollet, Consultant Psychotherapist. Trainees are encouraged, when at the appropriate level of experience, to take on psychotherapy patients under the supervision of the Psychotherapy Department.
The opportunities open to trainees include attendance at a regular Balint-style group on Monday afternoons and for more senior trainees, supervision of individual patients. More senior trainees must see patients for psychotherapy. Supervision will be provided via their clinical team or by arrangement through Dr Sheena Pollet, Psychotherapy training is a mandatory requirement of the Royal College.

If you would like to arrange to visit the psychotherapy unit at Thorn Road Clinic and learn something of its work including its innovative work with infants and parents, please contact Dr Pollet or nurse therapists, Mrs. Gloria Collins and Ms Julie Weatherill (01928 575073)
