What Trainees can expect of the College Tutor
The College Tutor is responsible for ensuring your
academic and training requirements are adequately catered for whilst you are here. The
Tutor will try and meet you individually at least three times during your attachment to
review your progress and the post you hold. The form in Appendix One provides a framework
for these reviews. You should have your CV, log book and timetable available at each of
these reviews. If there are problems with your post, you should initially discuss these as
fully as possible with your supervising consultant in supervision (see section on
Supervision below), but if there are continuing difficulties please approach the Tutor.
The Tutor will liaise with the university to ensure you attend the local MRCPsych Course,
(see the section on the MRCPsych Course below).
The Tutor co-ordinates the academic meetings and ensures that the required standard of
attendance and content is met.
The Tutor encourages trainees to become inceptors of the Royal College by asking them to
write to the College and ask for application forms.
The address is:
The Membership Department (Inceptors)
Royal College of Psychiatrists,
17 Belgrave Square,
London,
SWIX 8PG.
The Tutor will assess your study leave requests and advise you accordingly.
Before you take College Examinations the Tutor
usually signs a form of recommendation. The purposes of this recommendation are to
indicate your readiness or otherwise to sit the exam, that you have attended an approved
MRCPsych Course (to 75% attendance or above) , and that you are a fit and
proper person to be a Member.
